Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup active sourdough starter
  • 1 cup pineapple juice
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 3 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter (plus more for brushing)
  • 1/2 tablespoon salt

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the sourdough starter, pineapple juice, milk, honey, melted butter, and salt until well mixed.
  2. Gradually add the all-purpose flour until a sticky dough forms.
  3. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a clean towel and let it ferment at room temperature for about 8 hours or overnight.
  4. Once risen, lightly flour your work surface and divide the dough into approximately 18 pieces. Shape each piece into a round roll.
  5. Place the shaped rolls in a buttered baking dish and cover again to rise until doubled in size (about 1 to 2 hours).
  6. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the rolls for about 30 minutes or until golden brown on top.
  7. Brush with melted butter right after removing from the oven and allow to cool slightly before serving.
