Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm water (about 110°F)
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (plus more for drizzling)
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1 cup fresh mozzarella, diced
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish
  • Coarse sea salt for topping

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix warm water with sugar and yeast; let sit until frothy (5-10 minutes).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour and salt; create a well in the center and add frothy yeast mixture and olive oil. Stir until dough forms.
  3. Knead on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place dough in an oiled bowl, cover with a towel, and let rise in a warm area for about an hour until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Punch down risen dough and spread onto a lined baking sheet, creating dimples with your fingers.
  6. Top with halved tomatoes and diced mozzarella; drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle coarse sea salt.
  7. Let rest for another 20 minutes before baking for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Garnish with fresh basil before slicing and serving warm.
