  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1 TBSP Baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp Baking soda
  • 2 tsp Ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp Ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup Brown sugar (packed light or dark)
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted butter (cold and cubed)
  • 2 Bananas (ripe and mashed)
  • 3/4 cup Heavy cream
  • 2 tsp Pure vanilla extract
  • 1 Large egg (lightly beaten)
  • 2 TBSP Heavy cream (cold)
  • White granulated sugar (for the tops of the scones)
  • 2 oz Cream cheese (room temperature)
  • 1/3 cup Powdered sugar
  • 3/4 tsp Ground cinnamon
  • 2 TBSP Milk
  • 1 tsp Pure vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, salt, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and brown sugar.
  3. Cut in the cold cubed butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. In another bowl, mix mashed bananas, heavy cream, vanilla extract, and beaten egg until smooth.
  5. Combine wet and dry mixtures gently until just combined; avoid overmixing.
  6. Transfer dough to a floured surface and shape into a circle about an inch thick. Cut into triangles and place on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Brush each scone with heavy cream and sprinkle sugar on top before baking for 25 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Prepare the glaze by mixing cream cheese, powdered sugar, ground cinnamon, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Drizzle over warm scones.
