  • 3 ½ cups bread flour
  • 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 ¼ cups warm water
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 ½ tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp Italian herb blend
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-7 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add olive oil, salt, and half of the flour; mix well. Gradually add the remaining flour to form a soft dough.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8–10 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm area for about 1–1½ hours until doubled in size.
  5. Punch down the dough and shape into a rectangle. Sprinkle with minced garlic and both cheeses.
  6. Roll up the dough tightly and place seam-side down in a greased loaf pan; let rise again for about 30–40 minutes.
  7. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush the top with olive oil, sprinkle herbs and extra cheese if desired.
  8. Bake for about 25–30 minutes until golden brown; cool slightly before slicing.
