  • 3/4 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup melted unsalted butter

  • 1/4 cup softened unsalted butter
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons brewed coffee
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast by combining warm milk, yeast, and 1 tablespoon of sugar in a small bowl; let sit until frothy (5–10 minutes).
  2. In a large bowl, mix flour, remaining sugar, and salt; add yeast mixture, melted butter, and egg. Stir until combined.
  3. Knead on a floured surface for about 8–10 minutes until smooth.
  4. Let rise in a greased bowl covered for about an hour until doubled.
  5. Prepare filling by mixing softened butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon until spreadable.
  6. Roll out dough into a rectangle and spread filling; fold lengthwise and cut into strips. Twist each strip and tie into knots.
  7. Let knots rise again for about 30–40 minutes.
  8. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake for about 15–18 minutes until golden.
  9. For icing, whisk together powdered sugar, brewed coffee, and vanilla until smooth; drizzle over warm knots.
