  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1½ teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, and salt. Cut in cold butter until crumbly.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix eggs, ice water, and lemon juice; combine with dry ingredients to form dough. Chill for 30 minutes.
  3. Toss apple slices with sugars, cornstarch, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, lemon juice, and vanilla extract.
  4. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Roll out two dough pieces; fit one into a greased pan.
  5. Spread apple filling over the bottom crust; cover with top crust and cut vents.
  6. Bake for 45-50 minutes until golden brown. Cool before glazing with powdered sugar mixture.
