  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (cold and cubed)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup ice water
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups pecan halves
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Prepare the pie crust by mixing flour, salt, and sugar in a bowl. Add cold butter cubes and mix until crumbly. Stir in ice water until you can form the dough into a disk. Chill for 30 minutes.
  2. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  3. Roll out the chilled dough on a floured surface and transfer it to a 9-inch pie pan, pricking the bottom with a fork.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together corn syrup, brown sugar, cocoa powder, and eggs until smooth. Fold in vanilla extract, pecans, and chocolate chips.
  5. Pour filling into the prepared crust and bake for 50-60 minutes or until slightly firm with some jiggle in the center.
  6. Allow cooling on a wire rack for at least two hours before slicing.
