  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 12 lasagna noodles, cooked al dente
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan (for topping)
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Add diced onion and sauté until soft. Stir in minced garlic, marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, smoked paprika, and season with salt and pepper. Simmer for about 10 minutes.
  2. In another saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter and whisk in the flour for 1-2 minutes. Gradually add milk while whisking until thickened (about 5 minutes). Stir in grated Parmesan cheese and season with salt and pepper.
  3. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). In a baking dish, layer meat sauce, cooked lasagna noodles, béchamel sauce, mozzarella, and cheddar. Repeat layers until ingredients are used up; finish with cheese on top.
  4. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake uncovered for an additional 15 minutes until bubbly and golden brown. Let rest for 10 minutes before serving.
