  • 6 oz almond paste
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg, beaten (divided)
  • 1/4 cup sliced almonds
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Place the thawed puff pastry on the prepared baking sheet.
  3. In a bowl, mix almond paste, softened butter, granulated sugar, and half the beaten egg until smooth.
  4. Spread the almond mixture down the center third of the pastry.
  5. Cut diagonal strips on both sides of the filling and fold them alternately over the filling.
  6. Brush with the remaining egg wash and sprinkle with sliced almonds.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
