  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened (for filling)
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons espresso powder
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup finely chopped dark chocolate
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon melted chocolate
  • 1 teaspoon espresso powder

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and sugar. Let sit until frothy (about 5 minutes).
  2. Add melted butter, eggs, and salt. Gradually incorporate flour until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead until smooth for about 5–7 minutes. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled (about 1 hour).
  4. Mix softened butter, brown sugar, espresso powder, and cinnamon for the filling.
  5. Roll out risen dough into a rectangle. Spread filling evenly and sprinkle with chocolate.
  6. Roll tightly from one end to another; slice into 12 equal pieces.
  7. Place slices in a greased baking dish; cover and let rise again (about 30 minutes).
  8. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for about 25 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Prepare glaze by whisking together powdered sugar, milk, vanilla extract, melted chocolate, and espresso powder.
  10. Drizzle glaze over warm rolls before serving.
