  • 100 g butter
  • 500 ml milk
  • 100 g white sugar
  • 7 g active dry yeast
  • 640 g all-purpose flour
  • 60 g dark cocoa powder
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp ground coffee (optional)
  • 150 g brown sugar
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • some butter curls
  • 120 g cream cheese
  • 4 tbsp milk
  • 120 g powdered sugar
  • 1 tbsp dark cocoa powder

Instructions

  1. Melt butter and mix with warm milk in a bowl. Add white sugar and yeast; let sit until frothy (about 5 minutes).
  2. In another bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Combine with the yeast mixture along with vanilla extract.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth (about 5 minutes). Place in a greased bowl to rise for about an hour.
  4. Roll out the dough into a rectangle. Spread butter curls and sprinkle with brown sugar mixed with cinnamon before rolling tightly into a log.
  5. Slice into even pieces and place in a greased baking dish. Allow to rise again for 30 minutes.
  6. Bake at 350°F (180°C) for 30 minutes or until golden brown.
  7. For the frosting, blend cream cheese with milk and gradually add powdered sugar and cocoa powder until smooth.
  8. Frost warm rolls before serving.
