  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup shredded Gruyère cheese

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, onion powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sear meatballs until browned on all sides; remove from skillet.
  3. In the same skillet, add butter and sliced onions. Cook on low heat until caramelized (15-20 minutes). Stir in sugar.
  4. Sprinkle flour over onions and gradually add beef broth. Simmer while scraping the pan.
  5. Return meatballs to the skillet and simmer for another 10-15 minutes.
  6. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Top with Gruyère cheese and bake until bubbly (about 10 minutes).
