  • 2 cups elbow macaroni, uncooked
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups tomato sauce
  • 2 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or butter
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon paprika (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the elbow macaroni in salted boiling water until al dente; drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil or butter over medium heat. Sauté onion until soft, about 3–4 minutes. Add garlic and cook until fragrant.
  3. Brown ground beef in the skillet, breaking it apart as it cooks. Season with salt, black pepper, and paprika.
  4. Stir in tomato sauce and simmer for 5–7 minutes to meld flavors.
  5. In a bowl, combine cooked pasta with the beef mixture and mix in 1 ½ cups of cheddar cheese.
  6. Transfer to a greased baking dish, top with remaining cheese, cover with foil, and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20 minutes.
  7. Remove foil and bake uncovered for an additional 10 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
