  • 200 g grated apples
  • 100 g granulated sugar (for cake)
  • 100 g dark brown sugar
  • 110 g vegetable oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 140 g sour cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 100 g butter (room temperature)
  • 165 g powdered sugar
  • 23 tsp homemade caramel

Instructions

  1. Prepare the caramel sauce by combining granulated sugar and water over medium heat until amber in color.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and all spice.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine sugars, vegetable oil, eggs, sour cream, and vanilla until smooth.
  4. Fold in grated apples into the wet mixture.
  5. Gradually mix dry ingredients into wet until just combined; do not overmix.
  6. Pour batter into a prepared pan and bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 45 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.
