  • 1 cup unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • 8 oz cream cheese (room temperature)
  • 6 cups powdered sugar
  • Tiny pinch of salt
  • 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream (room temperature)
  • 2 tsp vanilla bean paste
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 6-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together melted butter, granulated sugar, light brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  3. Add cocoa powder, salt, and flour; mix until just combined.
  4. Divide the batter equally between the prepared pans and bake for about 25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs.
  5. For the frosting, beat together butter and cream cheese until creamy; gradually add powdered sugar and other frosting ingredients until fluffy.
  6. Once cooled, layer the brownies with frosting in between and cover the top and sides of the cake.
