  • 1/4 tsp salt (for caramel sauce)
  • 8 oz cream cheese, cold
  • 2 cups powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare your cake pans by greasing them well.
  2. Melt the unsalted butter in a saucepan over medium heat until golden brown, then let it cool.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  4. In another bowl, beat granulated sugar, brown sugar, and eggs until fluffy. Add vanilla and buttermilk along with cooled brown butter; mix well.
  5. Gradually combine the dry ingredients with the wet mixture without overmixing.
