  • 300 g all-purpose flour
  • 60 g granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 220 g unsalted butter, cold (cut into cubes)
  • 110 g ice water
  • 1 kg apples (such as Pink Lady or Fuji)
  • 75 g unsalted butter (for filling)
  • 190 g brown sugar
  • 1¼ tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1¼ tbsp cornstarch
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 2½ tbsp water
  • 5 tbsp almond flour (for topping)
  • 1 egg (beaten)
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar (for topping)
  • Vanilla ice cream (or preferred flavor)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pie Crust: Mix flour, sugar, and salt in a bowl. Cut in the cold butter until crumbly. Gradually add ice water until dough forms. Chill in plastic wrap for 30 minutes.
  2. Prepare the Apple Filling: Peel and slice apples. Sauté with butter until softened. Stir in brown sugar, cinnamon, cornstarch, salt, and water until combined.
  3. Assemble the Pie: Roll out chilled dough; line pie dish with half. Fill with apple mixture and cover with remaining dough, cutting slits on top.
  4. Bake: Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F) and bake for 80 minutes or until golden brown.
  5. Serve: Let cool slightly before slicing. Serve warm with scoops of vanilla ice cream.
